Today, Ranil Jayawardena, MP had the honour of laying a wreath at the unveiling of the centenary memorial stone to Captain John Aidan Liddell VC MC, alongside the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire and the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane.
He was pleased to see so many local residents attend the ceremony to pay their respects too.
The flypast by a Chinook from RAF Odiham was quite something and a very special way of marking the heroism of Captain Liddell.
