Ranil Jayawardena states "In the last six months, coverage was extended to a further 1778 homes in North East Hampshire. 96% of connections can now access download speeds of above 2mbps - and superfast broadband is available to 80% of homes.
Without question, there is more work to be done still. All residents should have access to a good standard of broadband, which is now a utility, not an optional extra.
That is why I am working hard with my parliamentary colleagues and broadband providers to increase coverage and improve speeds in North East Hampshire. I took the opportunity recently to discuss options with Sky plc and I'm looking forward to holding a broadband summit over the next few months also to discuss how we can reach those who still don't have access! "
